I am not a LA Parker apologist, but wanted to point out a few facts. People have been calling for Parker to be fired or resign for years, to no avail. People have been blaming him for his lop-sided coverage of political news and his bias toward certain political players. People have been complaining about his writing style and subject matter for years.
But here is the problem: LA Parker is at the bottom of the chain of command over at the Trentonian. There are at least four levels of management above him. While we can point fingers at Parker, we have to look to management as well.
Bill Murray - Publisher
Aaron Nobel - Editor
Paul Mickle - City Editor
Andria Carter - Online Editor
These folks are just as guilty. What would firing Parker do to change anything? Wouldn't they simply find someone else to do the same job?
Remember everything that is written in the Trentonian is filtered through these managers. The ball has always been in their court to get their reporters in check but they have refused. We need to ask ourselves why haven't they challenged him over the years? Palmer is gone so that is no excuse.
All I am saying is people are giving Parker to much credit when he may be a pawn himself in a larger game, and many say it goes straight to the Publishers Office and his personal prejudices. One thing we know for sure is that Parker's articles haven't hurt their bottom line. |

Care to source that little turd of information?
So, it was the editor's idea to turn the teddy bear story into a civil rights crisis?

EVERY ARTICLE written by Trentonian staff are filtered through its editors. They have the final say on all matters related to articles by their reporters, from content, length, etc. That is policy at all papers. You act as if Parker is an island.
He should accept responsibility for the trash he writes, but those who manage him are equally guilty because they give him the green light EVERY single time. |

What poster in their right mind would ever come to the defense of Larry Pumpkinhead?

They will do whatever it takes to survive. The only thing that keeps the paper alive now is sports. That came from a guy inside. They don't care what they print they care what sells.
How many reporters do they have? Almost none.
Advertising? A long time ago I asked my pal who managed a car dealership about advertising in the Trentonian? His answer "why waste my money?"
They are hanging on by a scant thread. They are probably in worse shape because the average reader is my age and are gone or are dead. Papers are dead. Pity. Our freedom depends on it and these clowns at the Trentonian only soil the image of the journalist.
If it sells a paper out of a machine, Parker will be green lighted to do whatever it takes. Believe it or not, they are Republican (by ownership), with a few frat boys gone wild above Loin Porker. Look at that article about the Porsche crash last week. Pone, Pone, Pone this and that and the guys office didn't even get hit. But the councilman sure got his word and name in didn't he? And I don't know hoot about Pone, he may be a great guy. But the owners cut their lot in that direction and to them Parker is just a tool, a screwdriver or wrench to them. _________________ how come so much of the solution is still part of the problem? |

This is an easy one:
Three of the people on that list are probably afraid of Parker's shadow ("racial intimiadtion"/wrongful dismissal lawsuit, anyone?), and the fourth (AC360Lbs) writes like someone who barely completed the third grade, so she probably knows not make any waves.
Call that an oversimplificaiton if you must, but you know how I roll.
Hugz n kissezzz...
